Marlborough Road Methodist Church, Banbury

Youth

ORGANIST

Required, ideally from 1 September 2011, by Marlborough Road Methodist Church, Banbury.

Marlborough Road Methodist Church is situated in the centre of Banbury. It has a membership of just over 150 people with a typical attendance at 10.30am service of 80 and at 6pm service of 30. There is a tradition of good music within the worship. Our present organist is retiring and we are seeking someone who will help us to retain our musical tradition. We have a small choir of 12 people who are enthusiastic in helping to lead worship. They meet weekly to prepare to lead the singing at the 10.30am and 6pm services and to sing occasional anthems at Christian Festivals and Special Services.

Our organ is a digital Makin, three five-octave manuals featuring 11 stops on Great, 13 stops on Swell and 14 stops on Choir, with a 32-note radiating pedal board.

Ideally, we would like someone who is willing to play weekly at our Sunday 10.30am and 6pm services and prepare the choir at weekly practices but we are flexible and would be willing to discuss other arrangements with the right organist. Our main objective would be to find someone who will play as regularly as possible for our main 10.30am Sunday service.

We would be willing to consider a music student who would like to gain experience and play during term times.  Remuneration will be by negotiation but in accordance with the terms and conditions laid down by the Incorporated Society of Musicians and the Royal School of Church Music.

For an informal discussion or to visit our church, contact Rev’d Rob Anning on 01295 262602.

Applications of interest in the position should be by letter or e-mail, stating previous experience, qualifications and any other relevant information to:  Rev’d Rob Anning, 6 Kingsway, Banbury, OX16 9NT or robert.anning@btinternet.com
